Dog throwing up

Dog owners would already be accustomed to occasional dog vomiting. Pet owners would already be wise to the pets habit of depositing the contents of the stomach on the carpet instead of on the easy to clean tiled floor. What is even more disconcerting is the fact that most of the time there will be two mounds to clean up. Does the dog has a vengeful spirit?

Given the indiscriminate eating habits of dogs it would not be surprising if they throw up at the snap of a finger. Dog owners know that dogs are voracious eaters that would not pass up the chance to consume even inedible objects. Objects that should not be in the stomach will be vomited by the dog. Dogs only have to vomit to remove the foreign objects from the stomach. Dogs have a reputation for being ravenous eaters. Fill the doggie bowl and the food will be gone in an instant. The dogs habit of gulping down food will result to vomiting if the dry food that fills the stomach absorbs moisture and expands. A dog may have chronic or acute bouts of vomiting. Throwing up, similar to bouts of diarrhea is common in dogs thus pet parents should not be too concerned more so if a change in behavior is not noticed in the pet. Normally, sudden bout of vomiting is not an indication that the dog has a serious illness. Often times throwing up is a onetime occurrence and after the offending contents of the stomach are expulsed, the pet would be back in its normal voracious-eating self. Acute vomiting though can also be a medical emergency. Dogs have a curious personality. Although intelligent animals, knowing that a substance is poisonous or that an object can create a blockage is beyond a dogs ability to contemplate. These situations call for urgent medical attention.

A dog that appears to be healthy would throw up every now and then because of an undiagnosed medical condition. Dogs with chronic bouts of vomiting can have intestinal parasite infestation, parvovirus or distemper. Other causes are inflammatory bowel disease, allergies and pancreatitis. Chronic vomiting can lower the energy level and result to a less than appealing appearance of the dog given the fact that the body would not benefit from the nutrients of the food thus to prevent this situation from happening, the dog must receive prompt medical attention. Vomiting is common in dogs thus dog owners are usually not concerned with the condition of the pet however because chronic vomiting can have serious effects on the health of the pet it is imperative that medical attention be given.
